STARlab is a research unit within the University of Otago's Social & Community Work Programme, in the School of Social Sciences (New Zealand). STARlab conducts applied research using an interdisciplinary approach drawing from systems science, social innovation, community development, and digital strategies. We partner with communities, organizations, and government to enable systemic change that is socially, economically, spiritually, and environmentally restorative. ARCC Microfinance programme 2021

One of the ARCC driven beliefs is to find a solution for our ethnic community problems, such as employment opportunities. Iti Rearea Collective officially launched. This project was an idea at Foundation North (FN) 2019, a one-day workshop with FN Trustees and critical players in the resettlement sector. ARCC has played a central role from concept to research, strategic direction, business planning and implementation. We are a very proud organization that makes a real difference in our ethnic communities. “Iti Rearea Collective exists to remove systemic barriers, enabling disadvantaged migrant communities to reach their aspiration and potential”. As many of us know, in Aotearoa, New Zealand, forced migrant (refugee backgrounds) faced challenges finding meaningful employment opportunity. ARCC has been advocating and educating for 15 years and continue to do so. This programme is an example of our advocacy outcomes. We are grateful for Foundation North and Iti Rearea Collective partners to support the ethnic community especially forced migrant communities. Also, big thanks to ARCC staff-Community Navigators (Faisal and Pwint) for their successful recruitments for the participants in the programme The official launch of Iti Rearea Collective has brought together many individuals, sponsors, and participants. This was a great celebration of the beginning for the Iti rearea collective with the collection of its first 26 participants. "Iti Rearea sera lancé avec sa première cohorte de participants le 17 avril à Auckland. Le programme pilote durera trois ans. Pendant ce temps, Marissa fera partie de l'équipe de direction stratégique, mesurant les résultats et concevant des recherches pour comprendre l'efficacité du programme et ses impacts sur la famille, la communauté et l'économie.
Marissa dit que son travail va au-delà des interventions spécifiques et discute plutôt de la création de systèmes plus équitables et inclusifs qui peuvent à la fois "réagir et guider ce à quoi ressemblera demain..."

LES CERCLES DE PRÊT RELÈVENT LES DÉFIS COMMUNS POUR LES INDIVIDUS REJOIGNANT LE GRAND COURANT ÉCONOMIQUE

(programme conçu et mis en œuvre par le Dr Kaloga) "Chez ECDI, le programme Lending Circles est un moyen d'initier les nouvelles populations de réfugiés et d'immigrants au crédit aux États-Unis avec un modèle familier (ROSCAS). Les cercles de prêt combinent les prêts aux petites entreprises et la formation des entrepreneurs. Les membres du groupe auto-sélectionnés se réunissent chaque semaine pour discuter de leurs opérations commerciales. Chaque membre du groupe reçoit jusqu'à 2 000 $ grâce à un prêt commercial sans intérêt qui est remboursé sur 12 mois. La formation et l'assistance technique sont les autres caractéristiques des cercles de prêt : les participants reçoivent soutien au développement des petites entreprises pendant toute la durée du programme. »
